By Amadou Jadama on tour

Thousands of United Democratic Party supporters turned up yesterday and lined up on the highway from Essau to the foot of the Barra ferry terminal to welcome their party leader, Ousainu Darboe.

The supporters chanted ‘Darboe, Darboe, the time is due’ with UDP flags planted on top of buildings, trees and vehicles.

peaking to The Standard in the Kunta Kinteh ferry, Ousainu Darboe noted: “What we have seen in the past few weeks about UDP activities right across the country, we don’t want to be complacent but I think we are very comfortable. We believe that the victory is for the Gambian people, and when I say that, it meant it is going to be elected to be in charge of the affairs of this country.

This is the election season and we are barely two months before the presidential election. Any party or individual who is really contesting in the election, I think this is the time for you to go out and meet the people and have the conversation with them. Let them know what your programmes are and try to show them that your party is the best. That is why today, we are going out to meet the people and have conversations with them.”
